March / April 2009
Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends of St. Mary’s,
As the temperature rises and Spring melts away the snow, we begin to feel renewed and filled with a new sense of perspective as well as an urgency to accomplish great things. Our students are determined to finish the school year on a high note and for some, our Seniors, a new and exciting life!
As a new season begins we cannot forget the accomplishments which we have already set. A few that comes to mind include: the girls basketball team making it to the district tournament for a third year in a row; several of the Seniors having already received awards and scholarships for their wonderful efforts throughout their high school careers; students raising $125 during Catholic Schools Week which was donated to the Visitation House. I am extremely proud of our students and cannot wait to see what else is to come!
Let me remind you that the purpose of this newsletter is to inform each of our families of important information pertaining to your child’s education and extra-curricular activities. In order to keep informed of all that is going on here at St. Mary’s, I urge you to read these newsletters. I’d also ask you to realize that we occasionally send notices home by way of your sons/daughters and we want you to ask them to hand those to you. Remember, this is your school and we would like you to be updated with the activities and workshops which are coming up.
On March 11th, several student teams will attend “A World of Difference Institute” event, which will be held in Boston. The Institute’s New England Youth Congress is designed for students and educators from public, private, and parochial middle and high schools. Students and educators will explore issues of prejudice and be presented with the knowledge and skills to promote prejudice-free schools and communities. This is a great opportunity for our students and I am excited to see what comes out of this event in the future.
The St. Mary’s Booster Club wants to relay a few of their up-coming events: On Sunday, March 29th after the 8:30am Mass there will be a communion breakfast downstairs in the Church hall. This year’s Diamond Pin recipient is our own Father Korcz. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children. On Saturday, May 2nd at 7:00pm there will be a Booster Raffle spaghetti dinner in the Church hall. Raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased before and after Mass in April. Dinner is free with the purchase of a raffle ticket.
Lastly, please look at our calendar for important upcoming events. Due to the enclosed flier for the recycling program, an important events section is not included.
As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Dudek
Principal
