Parents News Letter May-June 09

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends of St. Mary’s,

  • Spring has finally arrived and summer should be quick to follow.  Our school year is coming to an end and there is much to look forward to.  Our seniors have been accepted to many great colleges this year and I wish them the best!  The last day of school for students in grades 9 though 11 is scheduled to be Friday, June 19.  The last day of school for students is grades 7 and 8 will be Tuesday, June 16.
Starting on June 16 all students in grades 9 – 11 will be dismissed at 11:15 as these students will be taking their final exams. These exams can have a large impact on a student’s academic standing.  The exams constitute 10% of the students’ final grades for each subject.  Student who are absent during an exam period cannot make up the exam without a doctor’s note.  Students are not required to report to school in uniform.  Students need to follow out-of–uniform policies.  Students who have a study hall scheduled for an exam period do not need to be in school, students choosing to be in school at these times will be required to remain in the library.

  • Summer reading list and assignments will be mailed to all registered students in June.

  • Students and friends of St. Mary’s are encouraged to participate in the Walk for the Homeless on Sunday, May 17.  T-shirts are being sold for $10 each.  Any student who purchases and wears their t-shirt may come to school on Friday May 15 out of uniform.  All out of uniform rules will apply.

  • Our Drama Club will present ANNIE this year!  Dates for the play are: the 15th, 16th, and 17th of May.  Please come out and support our students.  Tickets need to be purchased ahead of time!!

  • The Parent Council would like to invite anyone interested to attend their next meeting on Wednesday, May 13th at 6:30 in the high school faculty room.

  • Chances to win Red Sox tickets are available until May 15th.  Raffle tickets are $10 in the office.

  • Awards Day will be at 12:00 on Wednesday, June 10.  ALL parents are welcome to attend.  Seniors will be receiving their awards during the Senior Dinner.

  • Please register for next year as soon as possible.  I look forward to a new and exciting school year!
